Day to day, we all face our individual pressures and stresses. Every night, when we lay our heads down on our pillows, it should be with the satisfaction that we have done all we can to make another day, on this crazy planet, the best day possible.
What if, however, we can’t seem to believe that thought?
Bear with me a moment, here. Think about it. Have you done absolutely everything possible to be a positive force in our negative world? You see it every day. Increasingly violent wars, unrest, hatred, cruelty, etc. Have you done that one thing, in your entire day, that seems to, even a wee bit, negate the horrors we all endure? It’s an easy question to answer. So, why do we hesitate?
For me, it is a simple reason. I know I can do more. I know I should. There is no absolutes in terms of acts of kindness we can do for others. No finite number of loving gestures we can make. This world is our horror story. Do we let it be, as it is, or do we struggle against the grain, and be that change, that we all can be?
I prefer to be the change.
We are all victims of our own circumstances. We can choose to continue to tread slowly in the slow lane, being ever-content to deal with the lot we have been dealt. We can also choose to switch gears, and to change our own circumstances by putting the effort out to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Why?
Simple. When you get down to it, all the money, all the riches, all the successes you have in this life really carry you nowhere. Sure, you can enjoy it, as we all would. Status, wealth, etc., are all the carrot dangling in front of our proverbial rabbit’s face. Do we chase the carrot, or do we toss abandon to the wind, and jump to the aid of other rabbits, catching the carrot they are chasing, and letting them taste the sweet taste of contentment, even if only for a few, precious moments?

Me? I prefer the second scenario. When you’re time on this whirlwind of a planet is over, what is it you will take with you? Nothing earthly, surely. Only the legacy of love and life you achieved while you ran the race of humanity, along with the rest of us.
Take time to contemplate what you can do, today, for another soul, be it human or animal. See the difference it makes. Feel that amazing joy of knowing you have done something more than for yourself.
Be blessed, and be a blessing to others.
